13-year-old Princess Sitara of N'daia, born and raised in the Eastern kingdom of Oreka, yearns to make a connection with people who look nothing like her. At the Imperial Academy for Noble Youth, the budding princess finds herself entangled in the company of 15-year-old Captain of the Guard, Sir Jun-seo, who teaches Orekan military history at the Academy.
Sitara inks her feelings into a diary to detail her life, witnessing different approaches of how the N'daian people around her integrate into Orekan society. When Sitara realizes her dream of becoming a knight like Sir Jun-seo is unheard of for Oreka, she must decide on whether she should continue to break the mold or adjust to the society around her.
Lady of the Lotus is set in a fantasy world based on the ancient legend of Queen Suriratna Heo Hwang-ok, an Indian princess who marries a Korean king.
