It's in a more modern time or a later depends on how you look at it. It's in the 20's-because who doesn't think Lafayette would look hot in a tux and top-hat??-and John Laurens is a young detective and the best in the NY state. He is investigating a crime within Manhattan. Some deaths with no apparent sign of how it happened. All of the victims were found within a certain part of Manhattan and with a marking upon their chests. Laurens is confident in his skill. He can't possibly loose. He is in for a surprise...and he might find even more than he was looking for.
Just in case you wondered it's mature for language, violent actions, and triggers.
