Everything was a lie.   

Seventeen year old Laika has spent the last eleven years of her life in the Conservatory, a national hospital so specialized that it works to treat just one single illness.

Novovirus. Also known as the "changing virus". Responsible for nearly destroying humanity ten years ago, it is now kept in check by mass vaccinations. But that's not enough to help the patients at the Conservatory.  They're sick, they're contagious, and the Conservatory is here to help them. 

Except when Laika finds another patient sneaking into her room, she is faced with a different story. Peter isn't ill, and he definitely doesn't want any treatments. Together with Peter, Laika slowly begins to learn the truth about The Conservatory and is faced with a shocking secret that threatens to not only destroy her, but everything she has ever believed in.Todos los derechos reservados

Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Set on a pristine, futuristic Earth, this is the apocalypse like you've never seen it before. (Rated mature for graphic depictions of violence and mild language.) Charlotte wants nothing to do with Nate or the girl who looks like her dead sister. She does not want to go through the grief of losing people again if something bad was to happen. And something bad does happen when Emmi is kidnapped, and it is no one's fault but Charlotte's. Through this obligation alone, Charlotte feels like it is her responsibility to get Emmi back, to right her wrong. In helping Nate pursue his kidnapped daughter, Charlotte inadvertently allows herself to feel again, to care for those other than herself. When her best friend falls victim to what can only be described as a viral outbreak, Elyse decides to work together with a group of her fellow Numb to figure out why this is happening to them. They can't do it alone though, with the Numb being monitored closely 24/7 and having no access to the outside world, but there's a light in the dark for them in the form of a Warden named Jet who is sympathetic to what is happening in the Compound. Will they be able to find the reason behind the outbreak in time to stop it from spreading throughout the entire Compound or will the task prove to be something that is just out of their reach? {A/N: This is the 3rd draft of this story.
