Claire Valentine, AKA Cupid, is North Shore High School's personal matchmaker. She turns unrequited crushes into requited love and first dates into committed relationships. Claire's life is seemingly perfect. She has a mother she actually gets along with, even though she suspects her mother is hiding something from her. She's adored, respected, and has fun with her friends doing the job she loves. But deep down she has tricked, lied and manipulated to get where she is today, and she has many secrets that, if revealed, would tear her school apart. And despite being a matchmaker, and the self-proclaimed "Queen of Love," she is unable to find love for herself. . . . Enter Max Carter. He's your typical bad boy, strong, devilishly sexy, and he has a long criminal record and an even longer list of ex-girlfriends. He's the quarterback for the school football team, and popularity swathes him like glue. But, like Claire, Max too has a dark secret. A secret that could land him in prison if he gets caught. Claire and Max have had a love/hate relationship since the second grade. But when Max asks Claire for help, she's tasked with an impossible job: finding him a serious, committed relationship. But as time goes on, Max realizes that the girl he wants is standing right in front of him, and Claire realizes Max just might be the one for her. Then chaos erupts. All of Claire's precious secrets are exposed and half the student body, who once adored her, hate her guts. Then, as if things couldn't get worse, her mother's hidden world and Max's secret collide, and Claire ends up kidnapped for ransom. Claire has to fight for her life and freedom, or die trying. A story about the power of love, and the price of greed. . . .

He asked and I looked up at his eyes. I didn't have to ponder over the matter long. "I don't know." I said softly. Daimen frowned and studied me for a while, "Just wondering, because you seem to love pissing me off. And most people don't. So I guess you need some figuring out to do." ********* Daimen and River were both seniors at the same high school, they took some of the same classes, walked the same halls, live in fair distance from each other, but they couldn't have been more different. When high school was over River and Daimen became ghosts to each other but then years later fate decides to bring them back together. River Sparrow hates confrontation. She's jumpy, but tries to see the bright side of situations. She's quiet, soft spoken, the "teacher's pet," and keeps to herself a lot. She's a volunteer at the local animal shelter and loves one dog in particular the most. Daimen Princeston would fight in a heartbeat. He's strong, intimidating, and pretty much has people running for the hills at the very aspect of him getting angry. His devil-may-care attitude swirls around him and no one wants to get on his bad side. Of course River is afraid of him, and she has a good right to be. But when River starts to learn more of the young man everyone fears she starts to see him in a new way. After some time feelings grow stronger and she hopes she's not fallen for a murderer. And if she has, who is she to deny him the love he so desperately needs?
