“Kaira,” he closed the door numbly then slowly walked over to me, “what happened?”
“I know this looks bad, but I’ve been in worse shape.” I say but that actually makes it worse.
“What?!” He is aggravated and gets up. His eyes stare down at me and I feel now, more than ever, that I wished that I was still in Hawaii.
“Jeremy, sit, I need to tell you something. “ He sits down looking me dead in the eye and I simply wish that I didn’t have to tell him. I know that once he hears what I actually am, he’ll leave and I’ll lose him forever.
“Jeremy, I’m not a human resource person. I wasn’t in Paris this last trip. I was in Pakistan, and my intelligence left out that there was a patrol and well…I got captured and beat up. “
“I don’t understand,” I see pain and confusion in his expression.
“I-I well… I kill people,” I say in a low voice, though I know he heard it.
“What?”

"I may not remember much, but I do know that I had the best time with you last night." Charlie drops his hand from his mouth and lifts his head to stare into my eyes, pushing his hair back from his face at the same time. "And I know this is awkward now, because I'm pretty sure we were both naked together in bed last night..." I choke on air, trying to dispel the imaginary object from my throat. Charlie reaches out and lightly grasps my hand; my eyes slide from our interlocked fingers to his shining pupils. "...but I still wouldn't change a single thing about it. So, I really do look forward to hearing from you later, Kaiydeen." It's like I've been taken hostage by his electric stare. I don't want to look away. I never want to look away. The busy noises of the street and the honking of the traffic fade as I lose focus, nothing strong enough to force my attention away from this boy. Finally, Archer loudly clears his throat as he flings his door open and plops into the car with a huff, breaking the trance between the two of us. I look away as I withdraw my hand from his grasp, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. This is going to be a long 6 months. ●●● Kaiydeen has always known what she wanted, more like who, but she never knew exactly how to get it. So she's complacent with biding her time until it, actually he, comes to her; no matter how long that takes. But then one day she crashes into someone she doesn't expect. Someone that has always had an eye for her, and he isn't satisfied with biding his time until she's his. But when the one person she's always wanted admits he wants her, too, she's forced to make a choice. Should she go for the boy she just met or the boy she's always known? There is some use of mature language in this story, so if your eyes are innocent and you want them to stay that way this might not be the story for you. Credit to @slueths for the incredible cover!!

I looked at him in shock, "How do you know that?" "I know a lot of things about you, Ms. Prior, even things you don't know yourself." Excuse me? "From what you can do," he paused giving me a look before directing his gaze back at the field. "To your eye color. Your parents have blue ones, so I don't see how that works." What? He continued without question, "You are still a mystery to us, as you have never showed any signs of power before, so it's sort of confusing." He paused for a few seconds them said, "You're different; you have an ability. You're a Supernatural." "Ok, I really need to go so..." I began walking back, but he stuck out his arm to block me. And that's when it happened. Flames rose on his arms, lighting them on fire. I backed up, feeling the heat radiate off his arms. I was in utter shock, yet he looked relaxed, amused even. "What the hell are you?" I jumped back, and the fire went out, a smirk rising on his face. "I'm just like you." ***** Kayla Prior has always been a popular girl, and everyone looks up to her. "Look at me," he whispered, but I was too frightened to turn around. When I felt his hand on my shoulder, I flinched. "Please just look at me, Salma," he says, gently turning me to face him. I look at him. His eyes are red from lack of sleep, and his once curly hair now resembles a bird's nest. "I'm the guy you warn your kids about while trying not to cry," he says, and I furrow my brows in confusion. "What are you talking about, Caleb?" I ask, and he shakes his head. "I'm the man every other man despises because he must demonstrate daily that he's not me. I wish I could apologize for that, but I can't; it's who I am, and I've made that clear to you," he declares. Tears well up in my eyes, but I refuse to let them fall, so I clench my jaw instead. 'That's just an excuse because you're scared, I'm looking at you Caleb and I can see the fear, it's okay to be scared but what's not okay is trying to act like some sort of sick villain who turned hero just to make me fall in love with you' I say while breathing heavily and he looks away from me. I take a step closer to him but he towers over me. ' You didn't deceive me or trick me, I knew who you were the moment I saw you' I say shoving him and he grabs both my wrist. 'And who am I Salma? you seem to know everything so please tell me.' he says in a deadly whisper which sends chills down my spine and I stay quiet looking up at him. 'I'll tell you then, I'm the guy who saw an insecure, broken girl who wanted an escape. A girl who couldn't get over the death of her sister and sabotaged her entire life because of that. A girl who wants pity from everyone, A girl who wants a free pass, A girl who-' he doesn't get to finish his sentence because I slap him hard across the face with tears falling down my face. I take a step back looking at him and he turns to look at me with a shocked expression. 'You forgot to say I'm the girl you fell in love with' I say to him before walking away.

“We both know I did what I had to do. You are mine to protect and that’s what I did. I protected you by getting rid of those who had hurt you. I remember you thanking me in your own special way.” His lips turned up in a sneer, turning her stomach. "That was before I came to realize what a monster you really were.” As soon as the words left her mouth, she felt the air leave her lungs and a giant hand was wound around her neck, pressing her against the wall. David bared his long canines at her, snarling and growling loudly. “I am no more a monster than your father is, Cass. You remember that the next time you get in trouble and need someone to bail you out.” He snapped his teeth at her and pulled away, retracting his teeth quickly. “Or the next time you feel like talking at one in the morning. You may have a gun, a badge, and cuffs, but you don’t have a cape. You’re not a superhero, Cass. You’re not invincible. You can still get hurt. You can still die.” “I’ll try to keep that in mind.” She replied, her words coated by sarcasm and defiance. He released her from his grasp and stalked down the hallway, forgoing the elevator for the stairs. Once she was sure he was out of hearing range, Cassidy gasped loudly and reached for her neck, gently placing her fingers on the delicate skin where his hand had just been. She swallowed loudly and felt the slight burn that had taken up residence in her throat. Fuck me, she thought to herself. If these criminals aren’t going to be the end of me, my family surely will be.
