Cynthia Alderfire is sick of her parents telling her she is going to be an amazing witch. The only reason they say it at all is because the Alderfire family is pureblood and notoriously powerful. Not because of her specifically.
She was just a normal witch who got her Hogwarts letter on her eleventh birthday. Just like everyone else. Despite her parents elitist view, she makes a tight group of friends that include kids without pure blood.
It's only when students start getting attacked, in an order that is far from random, does she realize how dangerous the opinions of her parents and other pureblood families can be - and how far some might go to rebel against them.
