There are only 6 true Affinities: fire, water, air, earth, life, and death. But during the Elemental War, life wizards were nearly wiped out by the hands of death wizards. Now, with life and death populations on the decline, someone has started killing life wizards once again and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal.
At the same time, a young Normal-turned-Wizard girl named Aspen discovers she has an Affinity for death and is quickly shipped off to study at Sylvestris. Her new school life is filled with adventures with her friends, but not before long, they discover that something sinister is coming to Sylvestris.
