Running From the Metal City

They were close, and I could feel their presence. The snapping of an occasional branch, the sharp intake of a breath, and their pounding footsteps trailing after mine. Running faster, I prayed that I would lose them in the darkness ahead of me. Stumbling around the dark woods, my foot caught under a raised tree root. My body rolled over and over down the hill, pointed rocks cut into my naked arms and dirt fell down my torn and muddy clothes.
Yelling followed behind me and a blinding bright light shone in my face.
“It’s her.” A menacing voice said. Then darkness consumed me.
Julie Haze has been running for seven years, and one day she gets caught. Shes been runing and hiding... from them... and the compound. Once a month the government collects every ten year old. You are taken to the metal city with the metal sky. They make sure that you don't return for ten years.... that is if you return at all.

She's the sweet, honest, dependable, pretty twin. Don't believe me? Ask my lunatic of a mother. "You look like Bell; try acting like her." If Bell had to save me, she'd be all organized with sticky notes and a compass. Me? What do I have but OCD, a short fuse and a cynical attitude. Oh, but I can run--fast. I can outrun any boy in my school. Well, when there were schools. As of today, all schools are closed indefinitely. Thanks evil, New Regime! Lintunericului is ruled by the biggest mafia it has ever come across, Rome. With a weak government and the mafias running all over the city, newer ones crawling from the sewers everyday, it is not safe for one to walk the streets alone, even live alone. Doors and windows are shut and locked securely before sundown and numerous deaths are reported on the news every week, robberies and beatings even higher. Countless years have been wasted trying to cleanse the streets of the city of the mafia and gangs, but to no avail. The people lost all hope for a better city when the Rome leader got onto the council, controlling the chairmen with an iron fist, having a say in every little thing that happened. But, despite Rome being the biggest mafia in the city, they could not even keep their own boss's son safe. Young Prince disappeared at the age of seven, shortly when his training had begun and reappeared half-dead a year later on his father's doorstep, a gag on his mouth and his hands and feet tied so tightly, blood dripped from the wounds. It was a warning to Boss Hejen, that despite them being the biggest mafia, they were not the strongest, their rival successfully kidnapped his son and returned him a year later all while leaving no traces. They could not find Prince in one year and the only way they got him back was because the Wolves had returned him. To keep his son from ever being harmed again Hejen made the decision to join the council to have more control, to show his power to his rivals. The night of his son's return he sent out his strongest men and the water in the drains overflowed with blood that night from the slaughter of many Wolves members, a silent warning to never mess with them again.Concluida

" I lunge forward at him hitting his groin with my knee then right between the eyes. As soon as I do, he crashes to the ground, out cold. I go for more, but a pair of arms snatch my waist lifting me up. I kick my legs and flail my arms to get closer but he is too strong. "Let go of me!" I demand. "Shut up." A low strong voice commands."Is he okay?" "He is fine." I grunt. Then the young adult wakes up, then scurries back away from me. "Sorry ma'- miss... " he says, making me angry again. I give him a cold stare. "I'm sorry." He repeats, standing to his feet. "Put. Me. Down." I demand again. With a huff he puts me down. I step forward with full intentions to punch him again but the man behind me takes my arm, holding me back. I jerk forward to get off his grip but he takes my other arm tightly. "Alright! I'm done! I'm done!" I huff in defeat. " This story follows Astrid, a 26 year old female who ran away from home 10 years ago. The only reason she has come back was to get away from the hole she dug her self into. She is running away from her problems again. Life before she ran away wasn't as nice as the public saw it- the sherif's family, happy, and loving. Behind the doors it was orders being barked left and right with no warning or break. Not wanted to deal with this anymore, Astrid ran. On her voyage out, she ran into some trouble that seemed all fine until it wasn't. She comes back home and everything is all fine and dandy until, "Unknown: You thought you could hide forever? I found you, and I can find your friend, Nicole. If you want her safe, you'll be at the ring in an hour." Since Astrid's leave, the town suddenly had a motorcycle gang that hangs around, not realling doing anything in particular, but the sherif doesn't trust them much.
