In a time after technology, where humanity has destroyed all that kept it whole, is a world consumed by the destructions of WWIII. Small towns of cottages and bakeries become the norm as do the limits on resources. All the people can do is hope they'll live another day, without being consumed by disease or famine. While many of the peasants live in a time of ruin, the higher order flourishes in its newfound power. They live in ecstasy as rich well nourished kings.
Moroni, is the sovereign of the Dark Hand, the overpowering union that rules over the entirety of the United Nation. His daughter, Winter, is next in line to rule over the nation, as he did so for 40 years. when Winter is kidnapped by the Callate, a group of rebellions fighters, she begins to question whether her future stands beside her father or the rebels.

The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years.
