if it wasn't already embarrassing enough that the first time penelope met jack she accidentally told him she'd like to sit on his face, it was terribly embarrassing to ask [the very next day] him to help her piss off her ex-girlfriend by being her fake boyfriend.

And of course, through fake romances, social media, jealousy, break ups, & make ups they learn that just because it started fake, doesn't mean it cant end real. Or can it?
