"Why are you so on edge?" Lance asks, as they both stand up, and he's looking past Keith outside the shop with a raised eyebrow. "What did you do?"
Oh, Keith realizes, in an instant. Lance thinks he's done something wrong. Lance thinks he is running away from the police, or some kind of gang, or something. He really couldn't be more wrong, but Keith doesn't exactly want to tell him 'Ha, I'm just running away from a bunch of dicks who were attempting to beat me up for the fifth time this week,' and so he bites his bottom lip.
What would Lance want to hear?

Or alternatively: Keith pretends to be cool so that Lance will be his friend and keep people from picking on him, but it turns into something more than friendship and Keith doesn't know how long he can keep up his persona

Lance is a popular football player. Practically the schools golden boy. His friends Hunk and Pidge add to it. They all get A's. Hunk is sweet and everybody loves him. Pidge is brilliant and people are afraid of her. Then Lance is the flirt. Attractive and all the girls love him. Then we have Shiro. Keith's older brother who used to go to Altea High. He used to play football and wants Keith to at least go to a few games so he can go too. He's engaged to Allura. A woman who helps out around the school. Keith is a loner. He's also a badass. He's not afraid to talk back to teachers and he has punched one of them. He repeatedly says it wasn't an accident but Shiro tells everyone it was. Shiro is repeatedly saving Keith from being kicked out of school and Allura usually has to help Keith with his wounds from fights inside and outside of school. People are usually scared of him and decide not to mess with him. That is until one stupidly handsome and annoyingly perfect golden boy comes into play.Lengkap

She does try to help some because she pities him. Keith doesn't like to talk about the abuse so he keeps quiet. The only person who knows is his best friend, shiro. Keith prefers to keep to himself and only talks to shiro, but that changes when shiro drags Keith along to a group get together and lance gets curious. Instead, he slowly rested his head against Lance's, both of them turning their attention to the sunset as it deepened in color. Keith couldn't hold Lance's gaze for too long. "Okay," Lance murmured, shifting to get more comfortable against Keith. Lance stared out at the horizon. "Everything's so beautiful out here." "It is," Keith agreed, his voice quieter now. (What if Lance had frozen and couldn't ask Allura out on a date in Season 8, Episode 1? Instead, Lance realizes his feelings for Keith and asks him out on a date. After the war ended and peace was brought to all the universe. It had been years since the end of a war filled past and now it was time for everyone to finally move on all except for one paladin who still clung to his past. Lance had been spreading the legacy Allura left behind when she passed and never had a day passed where he didn't miss her, but a dream reveals he needs to move on and live his life. Unsure of what to do he remembers when a certain moody mullet head confessed his love the same night he confessed his love for Allura. Determined to see whether those sparks still glimmered for him he decides to speak with Keith about a past left untouched. When the anniversary of Allura's passing came around he decided that was the best time to reconnect but who would've thought that the stars refused to align when Keith was found injured and unconscious with a beautiful stranger by his side. Will Lance ever find out if Keith still fancies him like before? Why was Keith injured and who is this stranger who won't leave his side? (I know this fandom is long gone but I rewatched Voltron several weeks ago before they removed it off Netflix. I forgot how much I loved it and how we were deprived of Keith and Lance ever being together so I decided to create this story. If you read it, thank you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I will writing it.)

Although, to his satisfaction, he swallowed any stupid comments or sounds. Except one- "You look like a chipmunk." That too. - in which keith has been exposed to a mysterious gas, forcing his galra traits to bubble to the surface. and with this comes the troubles of accepting the other half of him, even after the galra captured his people. all the while lance has to deal with the fact that keith was brought here by red, the extension of his own quintessence. he's still struggling to grasp his own life.. what does it all mean anymore?
