Summary:
   Charlotte Allison had always had a home life that was different than the rest. While others went home to family dinners, she always arrived in time to witness her parents fight over anything and everything. How is a child supposed to deal with that? For Charlie, that meant sneaking in through the side door and hiding in her room until one of her parents gave up. 
Now Charlie is in her junior year of high school with a permanent pessimistic outlook on life and a secret that no one is aware of. 
Miles Levi has been one of Charlie's friends since grade school, never close but friends none the less. He had always been the jokester of the group, loud but never obnoxious and basically the life of the party.
