Jack Robinson and Scylla Martin are best friends and have been neighbors since age four. Now they are in a relationship in their senior year of high school. 

      Scylla is smart, shy, into sports, and is willing to try anything. She's a good athlete, but like any teenage girl, has insecurities. In their Cross-country tournaments, her and Jack are almost always in the same match, and he's always first. She's always second and feels that way about many things. 

        Jack is attractive, popular, but isn't very smart. He fell in love with Scylla and has been for years. Yet everybody is different under the influence of alcohol. The two go to a party together, but leave separately. Scylla refused to drink and went hope early, unable to help her drunk boyfriend. Jack has a one night stand with someone he doesn't know and the couple breaks up, both hearts in pain. Jack becomes confused and unwilling to do anything. He can't keep his mind off of Scylla and has a few more flings. 

      When Scylla has to live in Jack's house, will they be best friends again? Stay hurt and angry? Scylla gets a new boyfriend and decides to play the guy who played her. Read 'Best Friends' to find out if her heart wins overall.

But the more time she spends with Jake, the more her feelings grow for him also. Sooner or later she can't help herself and she tells Jake how she feels for him. Finally, after almost three years of Lisa and Chase being together, Lisa is finally letting go. While dealing with the breakup, Jake is right by Lisa's side through the struggles. Sooner or later Chase begs Lisa for another chance, she is a different person now and she won't let him hurt her again. She's done with being not good enough for anybody, especially someone who hurt her that bad for so many years. But yet not all stories have a happy ending.
