I cradled the creatures limp body in my arms. It's dull eyes fighting to stay open. It's life slowly fluttered away in my arms. I smiled weakly at it's struggle for life. It's fiery red tail faintly swished side to side, hitting my arm ever so slightly.  The leaves under my legs were still damp for yesterday's showers but I didn't care. It was worth it. To show this lonely creature a bit of compassion in it's final moments. I look up for a second, seeing a flash of pitch black contrasting with the greens and browns of the early morning forest. By the time I look back down, the foxes body had become completely lifeless and cold.
