University during the day and fighting villains at night is a full time schedule for Marinette. She is studying fashion design, 3 years after high school, and is enjoying every second, putting the past behind her, excluding her alter ego, she has marched forward, ready to pursue a fashion career. She was happy, after what happened.
During 11th grade, Adrien left. He left without saying goodbye to anyone, which confused Marinette. She was cracked, ready to break. Chloe, in a fit of sadness was akumatised, signalling Marinette to transform. Chat appeared, although didn't say much. After the akuma was defeated, he pulled Ladybug aside.
"I can't do this anymore." He admitted, shocking Ladybug. "I can't put my life on the line for people that don't care for the real me." He paused, clearly depressed and emotional. "I can't be your partner anymore."
He left after that, leaving Ladybug frozen, and most definitely broken. The two guys in her life, her crush and her partner... gone.
Three years past and she is still broken, she just happens to be good at hiding things. Her and Alya have gotten a lot closer, along with Nino. They were a trio, holding each other together.
Marinette was finally content, ready to move on from Adrien and Chat Noir, or so she says.

The cold night air made Marinette shiver and cuddle into the red scarf that wrapped around her neck. She looked at the bright lights of Paris, of her city. A city of love. A city of light and happiness. Yet she had none. She clenched the charm Adrien had given her what felt like so long ago. He was all that was left. Everyone had left her. Her parents were disappointed in her. Her friends were angry. She heard the flapping wings of an Akuma and closed her eyes. She didn't try to stop it from taking over the charm in her hand, dark energy spreading through the trinket as his voice calmly entered her mind. It all came in a rush that surprised even Hawkmoth because at that moment she felt every negative emotion, everything she was ever angry about came through her mind, powering her body. Adrien tries to convince Plagg that Marinette is "just a friend". Meanwhile, Marinette's kwami, Tikki, notices her miraculous holder has developed a soft spot for the feline superhero, Chat Noir. Marnette is an average everyday girl with a superhero friend and a super secret. She is ladybug. One day Chat finds out Ladybug's identity and was surprised to find out that Mari his sweet princess is Ladybug. Soon Marnette finds out by Plagg that Chat loved Ladybug not the real Marnette. They have a big fight because of what Plagg said and Mari is mad at Chat for two months and Chat was so hurt during that time but Plagg never told him the truth. Author's note: There are probably some grammar mistakes and because of my potato behavior I will NOT be correcting them. Same for ChatNoir. Although, they didn't know that someone was watching... Alya watched Chatnoir turn back into a somewhat shocking revelation. ChatNoir is Adrien!! (LIKE YOU DIDNT KNOW) Sorry breaking 4th wall..... Alya tells her BESTIE Marinette that she discovered who ChatNoir is! But Marinette still chooses not to talk to Adrien and tell him that she is his adored Ladybug. With Marinette acting more and more awkward around ChatNoir, it is even more worse with Adrien himself.
