Book One of Mafia Ultimatums
As a young child Arieon Anderson was orphaned when she lost a brother and her parents in a fire that started in their home.
Dominic Dellucci and some members of his mafia, were on a stakeout in the neighborhood on a rival gang member who was undercover as one of his men. Yeah the bad guys do stakeouts too.
Dominic noticed the fire and was compelled to help and that's when he found Arieon, no taller than his knee the poor thing. His men urged him to leave the child behind but she struck a soft spot within him.
The Dellucci, being one of the Italian American mafias, had quite the number of rivals in this literal cut throat race. To gain power they partnered with Luca Rivera. However, the Toscani, another family, was after the Dellucci's most prized possession, Arieon.
She was the stone that would kill two birds, and make The Toscani's grip on the world tighter.
A decision had to be made, on an offer that couldn't be refused. The Toscani wanted Arieon Anderson in exchange for his niece.
Though the exchange was nothing in front of Luca Rivera's words, "I'm afraid we can't meet the agreement. That's my future wife. She won't go with you." Those three sentences, said in attempt to uphold peace and keep Arieon safe would shake her world and force her to uphold her responsibilities to the Dellucci.
Although with mafia rats involved how safe was safe?

My right hand met his left cheek brutally, stopping all that he had to say. "How dare you?" I hissed, landing another smack on the same spot. "How could you do this to me?" I raised my hand up again to place another one, but he caught my wrist before I could do so. "Plan your next move very carefully," he spoke in a low, belligerent tone tightening his grip on my wrist, daring me to slap him again. Code of Blood
Pain comes in many forms. Heartbreak, headaches, broken bones, and that quiet, soul-splitting kind that doesn't leave bruises. But the kind of pain I've witnessed goes beyond all that. Have you ever heard a man scream, really scream, as he's being beaten and his fingers broken one by one? I have. And as twisted as it might sound, in that moment, it felt... satisfying. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a psychopath. These people, they deserve it. In a world full of monsters, someone has to be worse. Someone has to be the shadow in the corner, the final judgment behind a red-drenched smile. That someone is me. Reanne Anderson. Twenty-four. Assassin for the Anderson family. Secret hacker behind their impenetrable systems but to most, I'm the Red Lady. I respect boundaries until someone crosses mine. Then I become a storm in heels, or combat boots, or whatever the hell I'm wearing that day. And then there's him. Lorenzo Russo. Twenty-eight. Newly crowned Don of the Russo family after his father was butchered by the Russian mafia. Lost his mother in the same bloodbath. He's cold, calculated and ruthless. He looks at people like he's already decided whether they're useful or dead. He's got the eyes of a man who's seen too much, felt too little, and trusts no one. Our paths were never supposed to cross. But war doesn't care about plans. He needed someone who could crack into encrypted systems. He needed a ghost. He got me. But sometimes, even in the darkest corners of the world, two dark souls might just bleed for each other.Complete
