To say that the students at Garrison Academy and Kaltenecker High loath each other would be putting it mildly. Garrison attendees see the other school as full of druggies and drop-outs, and Kaltenecker views their rivals as snooty and stuck-up. They tend to steer clear of each other at all costs.

Then a new government program is launched, known simply as "The Penpal Project", which requires students from each school to communicate with each other entirely through letters. Needless to say, the pupils are not happy with this arrangement.

Will the hatred between Garrison Academy and Kaltenecker High continue to rot, or will unlikely friendships blossom? Maybe, just maybe, the students find they come away from this project with more than just papercuts...
