It is five hundred years since the Earth nearly died in a hailstorm of nuclear bombs and resultant plagues. No one knows why the ancients tried to destroy the world. Their vast cities are still there, crumbling monuments to their colossal stupidity. Forbidden places now, where only the criminally insane Druids, and tribes of fiercely territorial cannibals roam their ruined streets.
Outside the cities in scattered clearings, villagers struggle to survive, hoping that the bands of outlaws who strike with impunity from the huge forests covering most of England would somehow avoid their vulnerable community.
It is a violent world the ‘Ghost Killer’ knows well. He has vowed to kill all those responsible for his wife’s death, and he was doing well until he met Ruth. A strange and beautiful girl with powerful mystical powers who offers him hope and the prospect of peace. Words that had almost been lost to his vocabulary after fifteen years of unremitting violence and bloodshed.
Unfortunately for him, to find this Promised Land she speaks of, he is going to have to cut a swathe of blood through the land with his axe, and in doing so threaten the very thing he discovers he now wants more than anything else. An end to the bloodshed.

Gangs. A girl. War. Fights. Love. Hate. Death. All words to describe the city of Athens. The most dangerous city in the country. But only those who have been there know that. Athens is not a place for tourism. Not many people who visit, make it out alive. Vicki, 16, has finally found a home willing to adopt her after 6 years of jumping from home to home, family to family, foster to foster. Some were good. Some bad. Some could, would, and did the unthinkable. But now she didnt have to deal with that. But she had no idea of the secrets that the friendly "welcome to Athens" sign hides. Or did she? She wasn't ever supposed to end up in the system. Or end up on her meds. She remembered nothing of her life before 10 years old. She had always knew something was missing, but this? This was more than she could ever handle remembering. **** "Wow, I thought it was just you guys and Artemis." "There's a whole world of gangs. There are gangs in every country, some even I don't know as a leader." "Is it tough being a leader?" "Some times. Especially when I have to deal with loss. But I also give some opportunities to people who need it. I've even given a homeless man a small job and it set him up for life." "That's cool. Are the Zusians tyrants. I mean were they?" something about the name doesn't shake me. It's stuck in my head for some reason. "They more are now. There's speculation that a kid got out safe and will one day take back the leadership, but after seeing the wreckage first hand, I don't think anybody left it alive," he says it. But he doesn't sound like he even believes himself. "Did the kid get out? Is it even slightly possible?" "Between you and me. I helped her escape. I know she got out. But I don't think she lived long after we lost contact. Why do you ask?" "Something about the name... It is vaguely familiar but I don't know why. Maybe it's just my meds." Let me tell you my story, the one about how I died. Don't worry, though. I came back. They say when someone shares their story, they're sharing their burden. Seeking someone to help carry the weight that bends their shoulders, hoping their troubles will float away like helium balloons into the endless sky. Your silence becomes their sanctuary, a vacuum they fill with dust-covered memories. If you speak, do it gently - a nod, a smile, the ghost of a touch on their shoulder. But my story? It's different. It carved its path because trust becomes a luxury I could no longer afford. How could it not, when the one person who swore to never betray me did exactly that? The one who promised never to hurt me, broke me. The one who vowed to stay, walked away. So tell me, why trust anyone else when the person I trusted the most killed me in every way but physical? Until they managed that too. They say the most dangerous predators are the ones who look like prey. I learned this truth through split knuckles and shattered promises, through blood on my tongue and threats whispered against skin. Through playing weak while gathering my strength in darkness. Now I watch him, this self-proclaimed hunter in his own game. He doesn't see he's just another piece being moved across someone else's board. The mafia's golden prince, they whisper. If only they knew what lurks beneath that polished veneer. What dances behind those eyes that mirror the shadows I know so well. But shadows? They're born from fire. And somewhere out there, someone's striking matches, leaving black roses on cooling ashes, drawing closer with every corpse that falls. They call him Pyro. And when that name drops in a room. Well, let's just say I'm not the only one with secrets worth killing for. Some demons wear designer suits. Some victims wear crowns. And some fires are worth burning for. Welcome to the game. Trust no one. Not even me.

*Note: This book is currently discontinued. At this time, I am re-writing it. When I have enough chapters edited and to my liking, I will start posting them on a schedule starting at the end of the discontinued chapters or I'll make a separate book for the new version. If you have questions about, don't hesitate to ask. The roof crashed down at the speed of lightning, crushing me under the table as I gasped for air. My mind scrambling to process what had happened as I felt rubble falling around me, surrounding me in darkness. I reached up, my arm stinging as I hit the hard wood table over me, which was keeping the rubble off me, miraculously. I wiped my forehead, sweat, and probably blood dripping down my arm and side of head as I reached for a nearby rock, trying to push on it, hoping that it might help me out of this disaster. "Mom? Betty?" I called, hoping for a response, only to get none. I didn't even get the slightest whimper from any of them. What the heck happened? "Mom?! Betty?!" I screamed this time, trying to push myself up onto my back, my leg killing me so much that I had to give up. I laid back down on the ground, placing my hand on the bottom of the table; anger, fear, confusion getting the best of me. I screamed as I banged my fists on the wood table. "MOM? BETTY?" Nothing. I was ready to bang on the wood again, but I flinched back when I heard the sound of moving rubble. Whoever it is was almost near where I was, and ... moving quickly. So, there's no possible way that it was a human. It would take hundreds do men to lift these boulders, but whoever this person is, is stronger than anyone I would kn- My thoughts froze as I watched something large wrap around the edges of the table, lifting it up; my eyes widening as I came face to face with the largest creature known to mankind. A giant. (This is my book from my own brain. These are my own characters based off my family members. Please do not steal it.)

In a dystopian world, where the strongest prevails, having peace is a luxury. Especially when someone from the past is out to destroy everything we have built up over the past 15 years. And with Christmas approaching, our group get to face ten hellish days. Preview: In his fury, the chains have rubbed his wrists and neck raw, despite me trying to calm him down. He suddenly calms down when the screams in the cell next to us switch to the sound of bones breaking. Now he sits with foam on his lips and his eyes wide, looking that way. After ten minutes, the sounds of the boys in our cell have died down, and we all look at the wall that separates us from the crackling of the breaking bones. And then suddenly all is quiet. After a few silent minutes, our cell door opens slowly. From the ball of light from the ceiling, the little girl in the doorway is illuminated. She is completely covered in blood and doesn't move. Then she opens her eyes and carefully walks towards us. And despite everything, my first impulse is to crawl backwards, away from the unnatural calm radiating from her. ------------- After reading yet another great older brothers/younger sister story, where the family gets reunited after years of separation, the sister keeps the secret that she was abused and assaulted all along, and the brothers conceal their work in the mafia, I decided to give it also a try. The output of my story was initially to turn this around with openness and unconditional support and the torture should happen right in front of their very eyes. Because no story is complete without the (un)necessary bloodshed, action, humour and, of course, a bad guy. And who knows, to throw everything completely upside down, the main character may not survive. I won't write warnings above each chapter, because most of them contain violence, blood, torture, etc. Constructive criticism is welcome. Ow, and English is not my first, second or third language. So if I mess up somewhere, let me know!
