Life is like a tightrope. You have to balance it right, otherwise you fall. Betrayal and disappointment are all parts of life. You just have to bear through it and continue living. If anything, bearing through is something Riley Aberlin is an expert at. Coming from a broken home with a work-a-holic mother, a deceased father and elder sister, and a 4-year-old sister who isn't much help, all Riley can really do is cope with it. And now above it all, she's moving. She could care less about her none existent friends or transferring to another school where she'll be ignored. But she was moving away from her sister and father's graves. That was something that hurt her chest. And her mother doesn't seem to understand...or give the ear to try and understand.
But moving may be the push she needs to shake out of her living nightmare. Because, moving means a new school, which means people she doesn't know and people who don't know her. And a trio of princes who govern the school like kings. Who hates her guts as much as she hates theirs.

Quiet as a Mouse || Abused Spencer Reid
Spencer Reid was fine. It didn't matter that his coworkers were starting to notice things about him., things he's been trying to hide in plain sight for years. And yeah, perhaps his boyfriend (who they hadn't even known about) gets a bit angry sometimes, but that's only natural if you have to deal with someone like him for a long period of time. And he's the first person who's stuck around. So Spencer is fine. Absolutely, unconditionally fine. Only the stray bruises, staring into space and flinching at every unpredictable movement or sound are there to say otherwise. Warnings: graphic physical / psychological abuse in most chapters, non-graphic sexual abuse, slight gun violence in chapter 7 related to a case, PTSD symptoms and flashbacks, graphic depictions of injuries, an alphabet of manipulation tactics and the such, implied / referenced minor eating disorder (he doesn't have the best eating habits), plus negative self-talk from our poor Pretty Boy. This ended up being a lot more psychologically disturbing than I imagined, so please please proceed with caution. If you're not in the right headspace right now, be careful if you still choose to read this. Fun fact, I was listening to the full album of Everywhere at the End of Time for the most part while writing this. That might have contributed to the style lol BOOK TWO OUT ON JUNE 18!!! She is already so gone, that every one of her friends and family are very close to giving up, and on each tick of the clock Riley is close to letting go. Will a curious stranger's words save her, or will Riley try to save herself? *If you read the summary, and decided that it is some sort of typical clichè , I'd like to tell you that this is NOT a cliche 'damsel-in-distress-saved-by-a-knight-in-shining-armour' story at all.
