Kenzie Clearwater is an ambitious African American teenage girl who dreams of being a poet. Inspired by the black social movements going on across the country and college not so far away, she may just get her very hearts desire. But when her father arranges for her to get married, though he says it's for her protection, she can not help but fear that her dreams may not come true.

Benicio Rizzitelli, Columbia graduate and son of the most powerful mob boss in the state of California. He is on top of the world and no one can tell him any different. So when the livelihood of the Rizzitelli crime family gets threatened, Benicio has no problem with defending the family's honor and name. But when everything he believed to be true is a lie, the real question comes to the surface, how much family honor is there to defend?
