Percy was born son of Neptune and Jason was born a son of Zeus. Before Hera/Juno could make the switch, a legacy of Apollo came forth with "evidence" that Percy was a traitor, getting Percy sentenced to Tartarus and disowned by Neptune. Before he was sent to the pit, Diana adopted him and was gifted new weapons and armor by the gods and goddesses that voted in his defense. As he walks through Tartarus, having sworn revenge on the gods that condemned him, he makes new alliances and gets a new father.
