With the castle ship now gone and Keith now back on the team and lance still unable to acknowledge the strange feelings he has for him, lance now struggles once again with the sense that he doesn't belong and his ever long pining for allura is starting to take its toll. While lance continues with this struggle the team goes through many difficulties with haggar still on the loose and enemies at every turn.
Meanwhile, Keith himself struggles with the fact that lance is slowly pulling away from everyone. As he watches lance slowly pull himself apart from the inside Keith is running out of time before lance self destructs. With haggar on the loose and no real base to converge on but the lions, the slow trek to earth could prove to become deadly to some of the paladins. Will Keith be able to balance his role as leader with his emotions towards lance?

**First Klance fic Lance and Keith were always neck and neck and rivals. They rarely spoke to each other and only knew things about each other that they told the whole team, Shiro, Pidge, Hunk, Coran and Allura. They were always off doing their own things and never did things together unless it was for a mission. On such a mission the team got split up. Hunk and Pidge went to a different planet to help people, and so did Coran and Allura. Shiro, Keith and Lance go on another mission to a planet where no one lives. They need to find a special living plant on the planet to make the Cryogenic Pods work properly again. Shiro choose the two boys because they always fought, but he hopes they won't now. The team captures a Galran who seems to be linked to Zarkon's high command, they intend to get information from him on the Galra plans. Lance, of course, is the first to talk to the emo Galran, and though he manages to get the info he needs, he tricks the Galran, Keith, which leads to a very rocky start. As the team discovers more about the Red Lion and it's Paladin, they learn that Keith may be of more use to them than just a prisoner. Allura and The White Lion have fused, and the Paladins leave Oriande behind. Everyone has admitted to themselves that Shiro has changed a lot. Pidge believes she knows what's up...but she must bear several life-threatening injuries to prove it. Nothing to big for a Paladin of Voltron, right? Sadly Haggar knows what the youngest is after...and she must prevent it from happening. In any way she can. Oh, there's one more thing...Keith has a family which is alive. NOT a Klance book.
