Elsa has just ended the eternal winter in Arendelle and has come back into ruling the kingdom. But when things have just felt like they had settled down, a new terror of darkness has threatened Arendelle and Elsa. The king of darkness and nightmares, Pitch and he wants Elsa all for himself. He threatens if he doesn't have her, he will send darkness over Arendelle and will send it into total chaos. Not knowing what to do, Elsa ask Manny (the man in the moon and her childhood friend) what she should do. He tells her to go to the North Pole, to speak to the guardians, that's when she meets Jack. At first Jack, is cold to Elsa for some strange reason, but when Pitch tries his many attempts to capture her, Jack is the first one there to keep her safe. Also the more nightmares Pitch puts in Elsa's head, the more she remembers about the time she froze Arendelle and the more she's losing control of her powers.
