The Other Liberal
Since 2008 I had been posting my opinions at online discussion boards. In late 2020 I started a blog called The Other Liberal as my own space to write longer more reflective pieces. These posts cover the period from December 2020 to March 2022. Some are abstract while others are more topical. Race is often dealt with, because unlike many Liberals I'm a working-class black man. I believe that Liberalism despite its shortcomings is still the best politics to ensure a freer and more livable America for all. To me that means a fair economy built on shared prosperity that benefits working people as well as the wealthy and huge corporations. Furthermore no one should be excluded from that prosperity because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity. To me individual liberty is the equal right to every American. Whether you agree or disagree keep that in mind as you read these pieces that give a definition of Liberalism, deal with the poor, labor unions, Conservatives, the working class, and race.Lengkap

Y/n lives a hard life, she's a 15 year old girl, completely normal right? Wrong. At home she takes constant abuse, all the while working three jobs to support her "loving" family, and attempting to be a mother figure to her 3 year old brother. What she hadn't realized is that there is an extremely large family willing to do anything to have her. --------------- The fleur family have always wanted a girl, for generations only boys were biologically taken into the family. It was deemed impossible by them to have a girl, through the mother's and aunts and grandmothers who married into the fleur family, none of them had been blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Of course they all loved there sons dearly, and all of the family had grown accustomed to wanting a baby sister, one to coddle and love with all their hearts, one to protect from the world and all the darkness that comes with it. So what happens when the whole fleur family goes out to eat at the local diner, and has little y/n as there waitress for the day. The ENTIRE family immediately grows an attachment to this frail girl,, and feel that if nobody else will love her, they will. They notice how she flinches when a loud noise occurs,or whinces whenever she bumps into a table. They want you in there family, they want you all to themselves to love, but how far will they go? Pathetic- that'd be the best way to describe you. You, a poor adult in debt, are desperate for a job. You're in debt, and on top of that, hurt. So imagine how lucky you are when you found a flyer offering work. All the job requires you to be is a regular office worker. You don't pay mind to the details of the job described on the flyer. You sign that contract- but just miss one part. "By joining this corporation, you won't be able to resign until death." You just didn't realize that death would seem like a much better escape in comparison to the horrors you'd have to face.

These little hashtags pepper our lives. These are mine and how they represent me. At least that is how I wanted this book to be. It was to be a book of short articles using a hashtag as inspiration. However, it has grown and changed as I have. This book was birthed from my not-so-short social media posts. As I began engaging with people who don't share the same opinion as me, I dug deeper into trying to understand how I decided on my beliefs. I did some armchair research on Street Epistemology. If you haven't heard of it, YouTube it. It will get you to think! I did. I came face to face with what I believed, how I got there, and why. It also forced me to ask whether my beliefs are consistent with my morals and ethics. This book is my contribution to the marketplace of ideas. Hopefully, it stands up to scrutiny.
