Quicksilver x Reader
With an unborn twin, growing up with Pietro and Wanda Maximoff made up most of her childhood. She couldn't help but be fascinated by the two's powers, and then her own once they were discovered. Like most times, all fun and games had to come to an end when enraged villagers attacked the gypsy camp they had lived in all of their lives. After losing sight of the twins, she takes off on her own to go find a new place to settle, leaving behind everything. Her dead parents, and what she assumed, dead best friends.
Traveling from place to place for years, being wanted almost everywhere, she soon came to a place where she was accepted. New York, where the Avengers were looking for new recruits and had their arms wide open to her, taking her in as one of their own. It was gruesome training, but she enjoyed it. Using the pain, anger, guilt and everything else built up inside her to propel through the training, and let it all out.
Not long after joining the Avengers, trouble comes to New York, with old friends. Seeing her best friends rejoice her, until she realizes they are trying to kill her. Part of her is saying join them to protect them, and also to not lose them again. And part of her is saying to convince them to join the Avengers, hurting them or not.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
