Adrien Agreste, a piano prodigy, was very famous among child musicians due to his mother, his coldhearted abusive instructor, who forced him to play the piano emotionless. After her death he had a mental breakdown while performing at a piano recital which led to him not being able to hear the sound of his piano even though his hearing is perfectly fine.
Years later, Adrien hasn't touched the piano and views the world in monochrome, with no color.
He continues living his life with his good friends, Nathaniel and Chloe, until one day, a girl changes everything. Marinette Dupain Cheng, an audacious, free-spirited violinist helps Adrien return to the music world and shows that when he plays he should feel free unlike the structured and rigid style he was used to, as they spend more time together he realizes that he loves Marinette , though she already likes Luka.
However while performing together Marinette suddenly collapses after a moving performance and is hospitalized.
When Marinette is discharged and back to her crazy self she invites Adrien to play with her at the gala. However Marinette fails to show up as her health gets worse and she starts to give up on life. After seeing the amazing performance of Adrien, Marinette gets inspired and decides to opt for a risky surgery that will kill her if it fails, just so she can play with him one last time.

Marinette would've remained frozen in her spot if it weren't for the surrounding crowd that pulled her up and started to nudge her towards the stage. "No wait! Don't make me!" She pleaded as they pushed her onto the stage, almost causing her to trip and fall on her face. Meanwhile Adrien had reluctantly made his way towards the stage. Although he could've declined, he would never hear the end of it from his father if he had come across as rude at a public gathering. As the two stood awkwardly on stage in front of the microphones, Luka had come up behind them resting his arms on each of their shoulders. "Don't worry, you guys will thank me for this later." Controlled: A Miraculous Fanfiction
This series is a little more intense. It covers topics of mental abuse. As someone who has been mentally abused for years when I was younger, it can be difficult to deal with people who scare or terrify you. Even when things seem to be the darkest, don't give up. In time things will get better. Don't let people who put you down define you. With constant pressure from his father, Adrien has developed some certainly bad PTSD, as well as fearful of everything he does. One wrong move at a fashion show and it caused another outburst of rage targeted only on Adrien. The only person he can really be himself around and rely on: Ladybug... his partner. At school, he's surrounded by his friends who try to be there for him, but he stays quiet about what he's going through. Marinette, the girl whose been crushing on him since she met him, tries her best to be there for him through anything. Knowing how sweet Marinette is, he tends to spend some time at her home, but his mental health and habits become more clear the longer he's there.
