Elexiys Lourdes Constance is a single parent of 2 (Ryshad &  Kaleigh)  who took legal guardianship  of her of her now 12 year old sister , Amina Lanieé, after their father died in a car accident and their mother resorted to drugs. She was in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, James, after her oldest son's father died ( plot twist!!) .  James Hicks is a vice lord who robs other drug dealers for a living. After James suddenly leaves the state for 3 months, Elexiys finds the time to be an opportunity to move from  Georgia with her sister and two kids to New York.  She then meets Dave East, who had a hood past and was in the trenches when he was younger. He promises her he'll give them a better life, but being the girlfriend of a known rapper comes with a lot of expectation and hate from abroad. She doesn't know what to expect. Is she going to stay with his promise, or is she gonna drift back to the south?
