[this is kinda AUish, as, in this fanfic, Phantom Planet never happened]

Clockwork, as we all know, watches over the time-stream, seeing every possible future stemming from every person's potential actions, like watching a parade from above. But what happens when clouds cover a branch of the parade? Pariah Dark is going to return, hellbent on revenge against Daniel Fenton for defeating him. Clockwork, seeing that every possible outcome leads to Danny's death, decides to do the one thing he can do without destroying the time-stream, he lets Dark Danny/Dan Phantom go. Will Dan prove to still be a hero at heart? Or will he prove to be the villain he once fought against?

Humans don't understand how someone can be both dead and alive, and that fact scares them, it opens up the possibility of a threat even if there is no evidence of malevolent intent. So, the only solution in the minds of humanity is to dominate and subjugate the unknown variable until it no longer has even the potential to be a threat. They choose to pretend that the unknown variable is lesser, that humanity is superior on no other grounds than that it's humanity. Danny had been stuck with the G.I.W for years when the Young Justice team rescued him. Broken, beaten, and none the wiser of the greater majority of humans, the humans with kindness in their eyes and light in their souls. He's been trapped in the darkness of greed and fear and violence for far too long, and what's left behind is a fractured mind and a trained weapon. Buried underneath that, however, is a young child who is scared and confused, a child that hasn't seen the light of day in years. That child never expected to see the bright side to existence, to see the light shine in the souls of the righteous. That all changed with one group of heroes, and one family of Bats. Cover doesn't belong to me. Cross-published on two other sites *Undergoing heavy editing, nothing plot-wise is changing, I am only editing grammar, mechanics, vocabulary, sentence variation, and formatting and overall I am just making it a more pleasant and refined read :) I am also deleting the A/Ns at the beginning and end of each chapter

1 part Complete

(THIS STORY IS FINISHED! IF A STORY IS MARKED AS COMPLETED, ITS COMPLETED. STOP ASKING FOR A CONTINUATION) Imagine Danny goes to college in Gotham. Given his halfa nature, he's fairly not worried about most parts of Gotham and given he needs less sleep now, he likes to wander campus and Gotham itself like he's a natural Gothathes...at night like the half dead-half living man he was. During these wanderings, he finds pieces of bat tech from fights. He figures it's safer in his care(and because he's really curious about the local vigilantes) so...he takes it. It's usually just tiny things that the bats- probably -wouldn't even notice gone and he has things to fiddle with now. Unfortunately(for the bats), he finds Red Hood's destroyed helmet and takes it back to his dorm to fix, figuring it would allow him to return most of the items he snatched without a second thought. He doesn't realize it has an active tracker in it so the bats, when they activate it and discover it on the Gotham University campus, reasonably panic and flip on the camera...only to come face to face with adoption bait using bits of their missing tech to fix the helmet. (Warning: There is a brief scene of vomiting)
