In 1865, a bird is shot out of the sky and changes into a woman, a transformative accident with consequences that will ripple through generations. Trapped in this new form, she learns how to be human and builds a home and a family. But one day, her feathers reappear, and she is returned to the sky. Three subsequent generations of her descendants-women living in the same location in different times-will then discover their own feathers and fight the change in a race to escape their ancestor's fate and an attempt to save the next generation.
