Charlie Swan is Emma Swans adopted sister. The last home that Emma went to was Charlie's, Emma actually got adopted by Charlie's parents along with Charlie's brother and sister and she lived with them for 8 months and they were a big happy family.
Until Charlie's family got in a car accident, Charlie and Emma were at home because Charlie was sick, so Emma was looking after her as Emma was 18 at the time. While Charlie was sleeping Emma got a call saying that her family got in an accident, sadly they all died, the kids died on sight while the parents died on the way to the hospital.
