Twins Nix and Flamma turned sixteen the day after the last academy test, so they were forced to wait for the next month. After almost missing it, they realized that they were Dragon Riders along with a childhood friend of theirs, Leo.
On the way to the academy, however, Nix discovers she has a gift so rare that the last time it was recorded was when her dead mother came to the school.
A boy with startling emerald eyes, an odd Headmaster with the appendages of a dragon, a strangely familiar girl and her dragon, a murderous godfather, and the awakening of the Originals. The only beings in the world, nay, universe that can make the very core of the earth tremble.
Guess the Twins of Fire and Ice are in over their heads, hmm?
Sneak Peak~
As everyone was getting on, the twins touched the air dragon simultaneously, and Nix gasped in shock. Words rushed into her mind, and she could instinctively tell that they were the thoughts of the air dragon. Right now, the thoughts of it, no, her, Nix realized, were getting concerned because of the gasp she made.
"Are you ok, Miss. . .?" Nix fumbled with an answer, but before she could, a low snarl cut through the air. Everyone's heads snapped towards the air dragon, who's name Nix had discovered as Tornado. She bolted forward so fast that the three kids on her back fell with yelps of surprise.
Tornado studied Nix carefully, before letting her snout brush her hand. Nix's breath hitched as she could feel Tornado's thoughts whirling like her own name inside of her head. But one thought stood out.
Can you hear me?

"A drop of blood in the golden bowl will bind us to each other," Vaeril looked at everyone's face to see how determined they were to vow their lives to Varick. Kia used the dagger to slash his hand and let the blood flow into the plate. Dan followed, and the rest did it as well. Everyone looked at Briar, who was just standing in the middle of Kia and Declan. "Do you feel out of place because you are not a direct descendant of Rowan? We cannot have the Queen vow for his own son. Your wife was not able to travel here due to illness," Declan asked without hesitation. Briar looked at Volde, seemingly trying to tell him something. "Rowan remains on neutral ground," he gave the dagger back to Gunther. "I didn't expect the beast of the past to cower this time", Declan tilted his head. "I respect that decision, Your Majesty", Varick nodded and there wasn't a hint of animosity in his eyes.
Volde removed the crown from his head. Briar stood next to him. The crowd waited for him to put it on the head of his son. "Do you need me to slash your hands for you to let go of it?", the ash greyhead man asked in a soft tone. Volde gulped and slowly placed it on Varick's head. "All Hail His Majesty!", they all cheered. Varick looked around and his heart kept beating fast. He looked at his father and felt a certain degree of fear.
