Eric is a straight forward and no non sense type of guy who hates humans whereas Ian is a calm, cheerful and friendly vampire who loves the company of humans more than that of vampires. 

So when Ian starts working at Fangtasia, Eric couldn't think of ways fast enough to get Ian out of his town.
