Sixteen months ago it stopped raining in South Africa. Not entirely. But enough. Unlike most citizens of the now-arid country, Milka and Roy chose to stay behind in their small Eastern Cape town. But the people of the Eastern Cape don't pray for rain anymore, they Beast. Then, one day, Milka discovers a 10-year-old girl swimming in their water reservoir. She brings with her the threat of a rumbling cloud from beyond the Compassberg Mountain. "The rain must've taken it." "Stop saying that." "It's taken everything!" (Updates every other week as I battle dangerously low self-esteem.)
