Escaping life is something we all need to do. Whether it be for a big or little reason, it doesn't matter. Alone time is a necessity sometimes. It doesn't even have to be sometimes. It can be every night. That's what Shawn Kyser does. He crawls out his window onto his fire escape and just sits and keeps to himself. He likes to think about things and how to change or make his life better, but he can't seem to figure it out. There's something missing and he wants to find it.
Carter Mayor has lived in the same apartment as Shawn all his life. They go to the same school, live a floor above each other, yet know nothing about each other. Well, Carter knows Shawn sits on the fire escape a lot. He's seen him there. One night Carter decides to go out and sit for a bit above Shawn and hears something that makes him strike up a conversation with him. This starts a friendship, but what will that lead to?
