15 years after the formation of the Justice League, Darkseid attacks the earth with an axis alliance with the intergalactic warlord known as Mongull. During Darkseid's attack Batman, Superman, Flash and Aquaman are all killed by Darkseid and his forces. However Wonder Woman is able to slay their foe and
save earth but at the cost of the League as well as many cities around the world.
Two years after the war and the new generation is still struggling.

Aquaman had been living life as a co-habiter for many years and enjoyed living life under the radar because of his special abilities. After the death of Superman he knew it wouldn't be long before he was approached by Bruce to join his little club. He also had the growing issue of his brother claiming the underwater throne and wanting to forge war on all land-dwellers.
