Merle Dixon is pretty hard to get to. He'll never let anyone get in the way of what he wants, and he desperately wants to find his brother. But he's not in charge, the Governor is. And the Governor doesn't care about Daryl. All he cares about is Woodbury's future. So he forces Merle to mentor the new girl, intending for her to be as ruthless and loyal to him as Merle is. Needless to say, Merle isn't happy. But he'll play babysitter until he can find Daryl. Doesn't mean he'll be good at it. Ami's group abandoned her, and for three months, she's been fighting walkers alone. The only thing that has kept her alive this long is her incredible speed. When she stumbles upon Merle Dixon in Woodbury, she's not entirely glad with what she sees. It's clear to her that all he cares about besides himself, is his brother. She'll have to stick around for the search. No one warned her it would be a wild ride. It's an unlikely duo, but they may have more in common than you think. Read.

Following closely the third season of the series, this story reveals the life of a fifteen year old survivor, Quinn, and her unusually close, but platonic, relationship with Merle Dixon as they survive the apocalypse together. Having lost her family in the first few weeks of the outbreak, Quinn is no stranger to the horrors this new world brings. The only silver lining was having Merle Dixon find her on the precipice of death and nurse her back to health. Because of that, Quinn has irrevocably bonded with the man on a deep level. Perhaps she is too deeply entwined in his life, too blind to what he has done, and what he is capable of. Perhaps she doesn't know the true Merle Dixon. Nevertheless, she will follow the older man to hell and back, and that truth will be tested in the time to come. Flashbacks are in italic. The Walking Dead does not belong to me, and all characters and dialogue belong to them. Chapters follow (for the most part) the plot from the episode, and some dialogue is taken directly from the show. Once again, all credit belongs to AMC's The Walking Dead, all that belongs to me are my original ideas and my character.
