A homeless couple find a abandon building and move into it. They adopt a street child and hide her from her pimp. Only the building is strange. There are spiritual entities within. Not a danger to the homeless family. Deadly to the pimp and his soldiers.

The homeless couple find the child's real relative and finally are convinced to send the child back to her relatives. But not before the spirits of the building reveal themselves. In the process the spirits reveal that what they expected. The building was a living, feeding entity.

I put this story as mature because it discusses things that may be disturbing. Human trafficking, survival sex, child abuse, homelessness, and the control methods used by people involved in human sex trafficking.

I was homeless three times in my life. Much of what happened to me during those periods are reflected in this story as well as researched material from the internet.

The Broken Branch: A Girl Between Worlds (Prologue/Preview) de StellaWolfPoetry

What does it mean to grow up in a world that already thinks it owns you? They called her a miracle. A monster. A marvel. Eliana was born different from any child before her - a hybrid child - neither fully human nor fully beast - Eliana lived her life behind glass until the day she could no longer be contained. Overnight she became a headline, a spectacle, a mystery that the world wanted to protect... or control but everyone wanted to explore. As Eliana struggles to claim her place in a society that both worships and abhors her, she finds solace in the one bond no one can take away: her telepathic connection to Luna, her mirror-self and sister suffering in another world. Eliana's real battles are the ones no one sees: the cruelty of classmates, the pressure of fame, the systematic abuse befallen upon her otherworldly sister at the hands of the very scientists responsible for both of their creation. Raised by her mothers, Eliana learns to harness the unearthly bond no one else can touch - a living, resonant connection that bends reality itself and grants her impossible influence - the link between herself and her sister - in a desperate attempt to claim any semblance of control amid the hopeless divergence of her existence. Blending the raw ache of coming of age with elements of dark fantasy and social allegory, The Broken Branch is a lyrical and unflinching story about otherness, power, and the dangerous hope of belonging. These are the first 10 chapters for a novel I've been writing for the better part of a year. These chapters serve as sort of an intro/prologue for the rest of the story. They recount the portion of the story that happened during the protagonist Eliana's life up until age five. The rest of the story will go over the following years of her life, all the way up until young adulthood. I hope you enjoy. :)

Genre: Sci-Fi | Psychological Horror | Post-Apocalyptic Drama When the world burned, four teenagers survived. Milo, Rae, Ava, and Silas didn't ask to live through the end - but they did. Now, stuck in a ruined world of silence, shadows, and memories that aren't always their own, they fight to stay human in a landscape shaped by something unnatural. But survival gets more complicated when they uncover a chilling truth: the apocalypse wasn't a disaster. It was a test. A controlled experiment under the name Project Loci - and they were its subjects. Now stalked by cloned imposters, haunted by flickers of who they used to be, and drawn toward a signal no one else is meant to hear, the group must decide what they're willing to lose to uncover the truth... and what might already be lost. Because in a world built from lies, the biggest question isn't what happened. It's who are you now that everything's gone? What will happen once one dies?
