When the only library in Lorelei's seaside town closes for good, she decides to stash away the books that were about to be thrown out in the cracks and crannies of rocks by the sea to come back to when she finishes the ones at home. Every couple of days, books go missing and when they return, they come back filled with seaweed and little sea made offerings. The book borrowers soon make an agreement with Lorelei after the people in her village are left powerless and need to defend themselves from the darkness that lurks on land.
