Have you ever had this deep, nagging feeling like someone you love dearly is missing yet you can't figure out who? I do. Every day. And I have no idea why. I'll be surrounded by all of my closest friends and family, yet it still feels like someone is missing. Someone whom is so important to me, that his or her absence leaves a gaping hole in the core of my being. Yet, there's no one missing. At least I don't think there is.
Ami Merlani lived a rather normal life with her grandmother on their secluded farm in Eastham, Cape Cod. Everything changes however the second her 23rd birthday rolls around shortly after the death of her grandmother. Something inside her is stirring. A hidden part of her she had no knowledge of is starting to awaken the second she's exposed to the impossible.
The world she's known suddenly seems extremely small when she finds out she's really the goddess Amphitrite; wife of the great sea god Poseidon, earns the ability to communicate with spirits, and the fact that she can turn into a mermaid the second she's submerged in water.
If that wasn't enough to deal with on her already full plate she doesn't remember anything. Something is blocking her memories of her original life and is greatly interfering with her learning how to use her newfound powers. A major storm is rolling in and Ami is quickly running out of time. With plenty to learn and danger lurking around every corner Ami will need the help of her spirit guide, a werewolf, and a fiery demon queen to figure out how to control her powers and resurface her lost memories. All while juggling a major crush on her new stable hand and a budding romance with a possessive sea god she has no memory of.
Will she figure everything out before it's too late or will she sink under all of the pressure?

Tension between mermaids and humans had always been high, especially after the queen of the mermaids had been killed by humans, regardless that it was an accident. So many years later when Princess Muriel becomes curious about humans, she keeps it to herself. Muriel lives in a castle with her father, sisters, and best friend, Percy. Some of her sisters blame her for their mother's death so Muriel avoids them when at all possible. She gains an interest in humans and trails after their ships. For humans, mermaids are bad luck so she knows that they won't attempt to harm her. The first time Prince Philip steps foot on a fishing boat he witnesses the crew catch a mermaid. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. Philip's bodyguard begins to catch on that Muriel is different and Percy and the king quickly become desperate to find her. My own version of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. The girl, who found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, experienced a stroke of misfortune. Following this incident, she was drawn into a world completely foreign to her, where she struggled to adapt to her new life. I was face to face with death. I knew it. I hadn't even realized when his hand had grasped mine. Fear overshadowed all my senses. But after what felt like an eternity, I finally felt my wrist. He was gripping it so tightly that blood could no longer flow to my hand. As I lowered my head to look at the hand clutching my wrist, he used his other hand to grab my chin, turning my face toward his. Then, he pressed his lips to mine. I stood frozen for a moment. Then, I let myself go. For a fleeting instant, he seemed to let himself go too. And then, just like that, he was gone. In an instant, he had vanished. The hand gripping my wrist, the lips pressing against mine-gone. And I was left standing there, completely stunned. It felt as though I had forgotten my own name. I started to tremble. My legs gave out beneath me, and I collapsed to the ground. Sitting there, shaking in shock, I finally understood what he was.

I've never believed in fairytales, superstitions or fears of fantasy worlds. It's the year 1871, and yet people still believe in such idiotic stories. My job as a stoker on this ship is just so I can get some money to live on, but when the ship goes down and I'm rescued in a submarine, I'm forced to help an ambitious Jenny Playfair, a woman obsessed with finding the lost city of Atlantis. She's crazy, of course, or at least I believe she is, until she shows me evidence that such a city just might exist. As we dive farther into the deep in a desperate attempt to find something, and someone, I come to wonder: If Atlantis is real, what are we to expect? Is there more to this than we know? And if the person with me being completely true about her intentions on finding this city? It's an adventure I didn't sign up for, but quickly find myself in.
