Wall Maria has been sealed and the titans all but cleared out of it. Jean is on a routine sweep, one of the last before the citizens will be allowed back in, when a large titan kills his teammate and damages his gear. As more titans appear he and his friends come to the realization that the wall has once again been breached.

She's lived outside the walls all her life. When the humans ventured outside Wall Maria, she protected them, and watched over them to the best of her ability.
