Layla Masters is senior at North High School in the small town of McKinley, West Virginia. She's tough as nails and doesn't take shit from anyone. But most important, is that she doesn't tolerate fake people. Not since her dad acted like he wasn't having an affair for two years before suddenly announcing that he was leaving to be with his other family: for good. Layla sees fakeness all around her, especially in Jackson Manning, the epitome of the high school jock. He's the soccer star, he's got the looks, the money, and all the girls at his feet, but to Layla, she sees it all as an act. Who she sees, is someone behind the charm and the dimples, someone who gets away with not turning in his homework by flashing a million dollar grin to the teacher and someone who lives without thinking of the life's consequences. Layla thinks that she's never seen anyone as fake and phony as Jackson Manning, but maybe, everything's not what it seems in his supposedly perfect life. Maybe, just maybe, her past is what's clouding her vision of one of the realest persons that she'll ever meet.
