The year is 2150.  The Holy Wars have been over for almost 50 years because of new laws banning religion. In a world where religion is outlawed, many still practice in secret. These worshippers meet in secret locations and underground caves and they are called Rels. 
Meet Raphael, a boy whose parents are devout Rels. They go to their secret meetings at least once per week. Raphael cannot imagine his life without religion, but still, he's worried that he'll be caught. Raids of Rel meeting places have been taking place across the country and Raphael is scared his own community will be next. 
Meet Genevieve, a smart girl who comes from a long line atheists and will do anything to stop others from believing in what she feels is utter nonsense. Upon her completion of high school, she entered a 1-month training program in order to be part of the mission that stops the Rels.

After Jesus, who was meant to show Humans how to live, was crucified Lucifer swore he would bare a child onto the Earth and that child would be the end of the Human race and in return, Michael, Gabrielle, and Raphael said when the time came, they too would create a son to fight this devil child. So basically, each solider could make a civilian a soldier and the civilian would be forced to fight and make soldiers of their own. The whole operation snowballed and everything went according to plan. Unlike in other stories, there is no hope and the only way to survive is though the CPO (citizen protection organization), created by Benjamin Franklin. It's a system of secret subway tunnels, used to evacuate civilians to safely. Out story begins on July 2, 2076 when the first bomb drops. Madalyn Grace and her friends are caught in this apocalypse and must find away to leave.
