Seventeen year old Dakota is trying to make it through her final year of highschool without being seen. After a nasty divorce in which she's been left in the custody of her alcoholic mother, She finds herself battling against the evergrowing current of her family's mistakes that have come back to haunt its youngest descendant after years of tranquility in Rural Virginia. To cope with her abrupt move to Portland Maine, Dakota begins a desperate search for a way out of suburban living, abusive relatives, and part time jobs. Unfortunately, her plans become complicated when a certain alluring alcoholic saunters into her life, forcing her to stop for a second and smell all the roses she'd been so desperately ignoring.
