A Consolata Mary Browne mystery, the second in a series.

(To get the most out of it, first read The Feral Strut, which establishes the main characters and background.)

After her near-fatal encounter with a grizzly bear, Mary goes to college in Salt Lake City, then tries to return to her job as a forest ranger at the Elf Creek station. But the memories are too disturbing and she has to change jobs. The following year, she works as a wilderness ranger in the Wind River Mountains to the southeast, where a mysterious death draws her into a web of local intrigue.

Whisper Hollow

5 parts Complete Mature

Jack Westbrook and Shane Yeager are former pro football players. They had always wanted to go into business together and decided to do just that in a little town in North Georgia called Whisper Hollow. Jack has a secret desire, which is to meet that special woman to help make his life complete. When big city ER doctor Sarah St. James comes to Whisper Hollow, Jack is hopelessly swept up by her charm, her spunk and her dazzling good looks. It doesn't take Sarah too long to realize that Jack is a very special man. Fighting her desires to be in a relationship, especially after what happened in her last relationship, she tries desperately to squelch her secret feelings. She is also still grieving the loss of her father; and also, the loss of a close personal friend, who was murdered. But as she will find, Whisper Hollow is a place that can brighten the soul and give someone a deep appreciation for life itself, as well as a place to start a new life. There is a local legend in Whisper Hollow that defies belief. Legend has it that the spirits of Cherokee Indians, the Nunnehi, roam the forests of northern Georgia. Jack, Shane and Sarah will find out that the legend is extraordinarily real.
