Autumn struggled and gasped it's last breath against the grasp of the cold winter. The chilling winter breeze snatched the last of the dead leaves that had clung stubbornly to their branches. A light snow covered the ground, as if insuring the inhabitants of the Northwood that Winter's victory was close at hand. The moon smiled down on earth as it had for thousands of years, spreading the light it received from the sun to the dark, frozen world below. Thick, bare trees filled the Northwood territory, and in the vast, uncharted forests dotted a lonely evergreen, refusing to give up and living on. The evergreens were not alone in their stand against the winter. A lonely howl fills the air, and another howl answers. The forset is filled with the music of magic that rings from the throats of the wolves. They were meeting once again, to form a pack and survive yet another long, deadly winter. "Please, take my sister with you. She won't survive on her own," a small brown wolf begged the gathered pack of 12 wolves. A small girl with green eyes and black hair stood behind the wolf, her eyes filled with dread. "We have no use for a bastard child. We have no dealings with vampires," A larger, grey artic wolf spoke. "She is werewolf as well. Respect her father's blood." the smaller wolf pleaded. "I can't leave her behind. If you don't take her, then you won't take me." the wolf snarled, baring his teeth. "Then you both will die, Jacob. It is not my fault that your father laid with a vampire whore," The leader snarled back. "This meeting is adjourned." The wolves turned to go. "White-Fang, by the blood of the pack, I demand you to accept my sister!" Jacob snarled, blocking the leader from leaving. A gasp went up from the other wolves. White-Fang paused, his eyes searching for sincerity. "I vowed to keep Whisper safe," Jacob answered, looking back at the small girl. The Blood of the Pack. A ritual of battle to the death... By one death another was freed. Or were they???

He walks forward, pressing the blade into his throat. His skin is taunt against the serrated edge, and blood beads around it until it drips down his neck in a crimson trail. My eyes widened, wanting it. He is looking at me with those dangerous, glinting green eyes, daring me. "Kill me, then. If you feel nothing, you can kill me. Then you can leave. The choice is up to you. It always has been," He whispers. His words leave me as cold as the blade at his throat. My heart is subjected to this stabbing pain, like I'd turned the knife on myself, and I would rather it be like that. "But if you don't," he whispers," you are mine and all mine. We will rule the dawn of a new age, we will complete our bond, and you will forget about her. Make your choice." I can hear my heart beat in my ears, and I swallow agaisnt the rush. These are my options. Kill him, or agree to be his. I make my own choice. I can not take my freedom away. I can not be the mate he wants, but I can not kill him. With a deep breath, I turn the knife on myself. Aurora, a girl with only one name and abandoned at birth in a war torn land, finds herself lost in a sea of witches, drowning in everything she can never have. Or so she thinks, the night a divine interference rips her from her home leads to a butterfly effect of deadly, chaotic spirals. Something dwells in the unknown shadows of Aurora's soul, something lurking just behind the screen of consciousness, something passed down through the generations as greater beings try to avoid the annihilation of our world. Is she just another part of the fall out, another victim to an unending tragedy between two cosmic beings? There's only one thing that can help her, and it stands before her in the form of a green eyed werewolf mercilessly killing the witches she's grown up loving. She thinks he can protect her, but what will she do when he needs protection...from her? #12 in destruction #11 in strife
