Melody Daaé is the younger, half, sister to Christine Daaé. Not girls work at the opera as a dancer, though both girls love to sing, it is Christine who is chosen to sing in the next opera when the Prima Donna has a hissy fit.
Melody has always wanted to sing, but no one would give her the chance, until she starts humming and the composer asks her to sing. When she does, she does not realize that the Phantom of the Opera is watching her, he falls for both sisters, but only one truly loves him.
