The Last of the Ruin

Many decades in the future, half of humanity left the failing Earth to live on a giant space station orbiting it, taking most of the technology, supplies, and resources with them. Three years later, the survivors of the ones left on the ground, including fourteen-year-old Eurydice Kane and her family, have suffered through hardship after hardship to survive, all the while resenting the Deserters who left them to fend for themselves. But when the space station starts to fail, and an escape vehicle filled with Deserters crashes into the meadow near Eurydice's house, Eury and the survivors in her town have two options: forgive, forget, and help the survivors, or let them have a taste of what they condemned five billion people to.
