Having been adopted from Hong Kong at just three months old, Lia Casey has never known anything about her birth family: who her parents were, why she was given up for adoption, and how she came to an adoption agency halfway around the world from where she was born. Her adoptive parents have always maintained they were kept in the dark. About everything.

So when Lia turns 18, she thinks it's just like any other birthday. But she receives two surprises that day. The first is that her adoptive parents know more about her adoption than they've been letting on.

The second is that someone is trying to kill her.

Piecing together the information about her adoption, her parents, and their past may be the only way Lia stays alive. Now, it's a race against the clock to answer the questions that Lia has always had.

Someone is determined to keep those answers secret. And they're willing to do anything to keep it that way.
