We all sat at our posts, chatting and laughing. Our lives definitely weren't perfect, but they were... interesting... to say the least.
"Hey, I got a question." Tera said, "If you could backtrack to when this all started, if you had a way to stop it, would you?"
I thought long and hard. It would have been better if the world hadn't started crumbling around us, but if it didn't then I wouldn't have met these people.
"I think... I think I'd-"
I began to speak, but I suddenly heard the sound speaker blaring, emitting a high-pitched beep. It sounded 3 times, then once that dragged out.
"A hoard's approaching. Everyone, get ready." Katy's voice sounded. Everyone rushed to their places, leaving Tera and me to guard the front with 3 others. As we looked ahead, they raced towards us.
"Good luck, kiddo." Mason stated, encouragingly.
"See ya on the other side, Mace."
Raising my handgun, I aimed at the closest one; A rush of adrenaline pumping through my veins. I wouldn't trade this life for anything.

Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.
