In Rise, Micaela, a woman who is losing hope as she struggles to keep her family together, crosses paths with Quentin, a man on a quest to discover a mystery involving his parents, and Suyef, a nomad from another continental shell on a quest to avenge his dead father, as each tries separately to solve a larger problem: why is the water, provided by Ancient devices, drying up? They join forces, through uncontrollable circumstances, to seek an answer. Their journey sets off a war, a war no one realizes is older than the event that nearly destroyed their ancient world.
