A world long ago shattered into shell continents, surrounded by a water shield to protect them from space, is dependent on Ancient technology to give them water. Now, that water is running out on one shell. The search to discover why compels three strangers to uncover the mystery long forgotten about their world's past before the madman that once tried to destroy the world finally succeeds.
In Rise, Micaela, a woman who is losing hope as she struggles to keep her family together, crosses paths with Quentin, a man on a quest to discover a mystery involving his parents, and Suyef, a nomad from another continental shell on a quest to avenge his dead father, as each tries separately to solve a larger problem: why is the water, provided by Ancient devices, drying up? They join forces, through uncontrollable circumstances, to seek an answer. Their journey sets off a war, a war no one realizes is older than the event that nearly destroyed their ancient world. A war that's merely a cover for something much darker.

Those two humans would be trained to kill what humanity has become and start it all over, so the world would be a better place. But once they make the female, they find that she is not like her partner. She has a different goal in mind than restarting humanity.
